The Gentle side of Montenegro

Explore the wild beauty of Montenegro on a journey through time! Trek through pristine nature, across high grassy mountain plateaus, forests, and glacial lakes hidden in the mountains, and one of the deepest river canyons in the world. The Tara river canyon is a staggering 1300m deep. Discover ancient monasteries and mountain villages. Montenegro is a paradise for adventure seekers and lovers of unspoiled nature, and a land of exceptionally hospitable people.

Our adventure begins in Bosnia and Herzegovina, tracing the Drina river upstream to its source, where Drina is formed by the confluence of the Tara and Piva rivers.. We'll then embark on a thrilling journey through the heart of Montenegro, exploring the awe-inspiring Tara river canyon, one of the deepest in the world. After refueling in Žabljak, we'll conquer the heights of Sinjajevina and marvel at the breathtaking views. Our journey continues through the rugged beauty of the Prokletije mountains, before descending to the vibrant capital of Podgorica. Our adventure concludes with a visit to the historic Ostrog Monastery and a relaxing stay by the shores of lake Krupac.

Itinerary

Mount Durmitor is a national park, with the highest peak being Bobotov Kuk. Durmitor is intersected by many rivers, the most impressive of which is the Tara River, which has carved the deepest canyon in Europe.

The rugged mountain, with its undulating plateaus extending over 60 square kilometers, is known for its pristine nature and the tradition of pastoral farming, surrounded by the canyons of the Morača and Tara rivers, which offer spectacular views and an authentic experience of nature.

The mountains located on the border of Montenegro and Albania, which until about thirty years ago were accessible only to the military due to the political situation. For this reason, the Prokletije are still largely unexplored, wild, and rugged. They are often referred to as the Alps of Southern Europe and are considered one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Europe. Be sure to look up the legend of how the Prokletije got their name on the internet.
