Field Validation

Field Validation

Some gear looks convincing at a trade show. Some in a studio. Some only after thousands of kilometres of real terrain.

This isn't a test. It's not a review, not a sponsored article, not "we got it on loan and here are our impressions." Field Validation is a service offered by Magna Expeditions — a structured, long-term assessment of equipment and vehicles under real expedition conditions, on terrain where a product has nowhere to hide from the truth.

Magna Expeditions has been running expeditions through the Balkans, the Caucasus and Central Asia for years. Under these conditions, equipment works exactly as it's meant to: under continuous vibration, in dust and humidity, across temperature extremes from -20°C to +45°C, thousands of kilometres from the nearest service point.

How we workn

We choose our collaborations selectively. Each partner gets one place in the program per product category, per season — we don't share the field with a dozen brands of the same kind. Equipment is fitted, used and documented throughout the entire expedition. Alongside technical photo/video documentation, depending on the equipment being assessed, we also use technical telemetry — temperature, current, vibration — to get precise data on how the system performs.

At the end of the season, the partner receives a written report — honest, structured and clearly contextualised. We don't hide the flaws. If something doesn't work as it should, that's part of the report, because that kind of feedback has a value that in-house testing can rarely replicate.

Field Validation is for those who want to know how their product actually performs, not just how it looks in a photo.

A good result may, but doesn't have to, also open the door to the ME Club — our closed community of verified overlanders.
