There are journeys where we measure epochs, not kilometers. Our path leads where the shadow of the last king, eternally hidden in the mists of Petrova Gora, meets the cold breath of reinforced concrete in the mountain's dark womb.
Peer into the concrete heart of Željava, where the silence of underground runways still guards the secrets of an era and the roar of jet engines, then let the brilliant, emerald pulse of the Una pull you from that darkness. It flows like liquid history—relentless, pure, and, just as its name implies, unique.
Between the myth of Svačić, the base's cold steel, and the river's wild beauty, you will find a path that connects not just points on a map, but vanished worlds. This isn't just a drive through space; it's a drive through history, a search for what remains once the engines are cut and the wind goes silent.
We meet in Korenica, from where we ascend the Lička Plješevica mountain. After visiting the former military radar station and the control tower of the Željava underground airbase, we descend into the mountain’s womb—directly into the Željava underground airbase. We spend the night at a hotel where dinner awaits us.
After breakfast at the hotel, we drive along the Una River through the National Park to visit the world-renowned "Štrbački buk" waterfall. There is an optional visit to the "Ledenica" ice cave. Afterward, we return to the hotel for another shared dinner.
After breakfast, we visit the old Ostrožac Fortress near Bihać. Following the tour of the fortification, we cross the border into Croatia. We head towards Petrova Gora, a mountain named after the Croatian king who perished there in a battle against the Hungarians.
